Supreme-Olympia, Snowbird Sando Bags off to a good start

Supreme-Olympia and Snowbird Sando Bags both started their Grace Alumni Basketball League (GABL) campaign on a winning note at SGS Stadium in Quezon City.
Manchesfer Uy had 15 points for Supreme-Olympia enabling them to escape with a 48-47 win over Wishcraft Events team of Coach Edmund Tang.
Stewart Velmonte and Jeff Ongteco also combined for 18 points for Supreme-Olympia team of Coach Steven Quan.
Alexander Tan and Joseph Yu had 15 and 13 points respectively for Events Specialist.
Now on its 7th season, GABL is partnering with World Balance in in aiming to strengthen friendship through sports.
In the main game, early injury to a key player did not prevent Snowbird Sando Bags from starting their tournament with a 56-53 win over Byzmo.
Sando Bags makers relied on the hot hands of Marvin Geronimo who scored 8 straight points in building huge leads second quarter. Geronimo still scored 11 points, to lead Snowbird, on 3 of 4 shooting from the three-point area before suffering a knee injury midway through the second quarter.
Renz Tan, Kingslee See and Chino Guasa combined for 25 points to stave off timely rallies by their opponents.
Ben Ong had a game-high 16 points to lead Byzmo.
The event also has the backing of Bounty Fresh Chicken, Licton Industial Corp, GCC batch 1978, Alpha Water Heaters, Great Wall Cars and Grace Christian College.
